Golden Bamboo Lemur


Weight:
The weight of the golden bamboo lemur averages 1.6 kg (3.5 lb). 

Habitat:
The golden bamboo lemur is found in forest containing giant bamboo. 

Birth Season:
November and December. 

Diet:
The golden bamboo lemur's diet mainly consists of new shoots of giant bamboo. It also eats bamboo creeper and bamboo grass. 

Behavior:
The golden bamboo lemur is most active at dawn and dusk but is also active at night. 

Social Organization:
The size of golden bamboo lemur groups ranges from 2 - 6 and is often 3 or 4. 

Density/Range:
One golden bamboo lemur group's home range was about 80 hectares (200 acres), and the average daily path length was less than 400 m (1300') during the winter (Mittermeier et al. 1994).
