The royal families, nobles and knights were the most powerful in the feudal society in Europe until 13-14 centuries. Merchants and peasants' power started growing and the economy was also controlled by them gradually. At that time, the Italy Peninsula was the most important trading port. Indian and Persian merchants sold their products like spice to the Asia via this peninsula.
First Crusade was broken in 1096 because of religion and economic benefit of Arabs and Persians. Venice and the neighbouring ports became the supply depots of the West Europe countries' arms. The arms bought lots of army provisions from Venice's merchants. After many punitive expeditions, the nobles almost used up their money, so they lent money from the Venice merchants and granted them many privileges. An reformation-Renaissance bursted out eventually since the Venice merchants and peasants became rich and powerful after the war.
Renaissance means rebirth, that is the motion of the society changes from the depressive and feudal one to a freedom, enterprising one. Under the humanism, the painting art became colourful, life and variable.
