OF TRAFFIC
Diverse
criminal organizations manage the market of drugs in the
world. In Latin America they are called cartels; in Asia,
triads. In the Russian Federacy and the United States, the
traffic is burst for the mafia. These organizations characterize
for a centered control in the high steps and for a division
of functions in the lowest levels. They use specialized
staff to act in the different stages of the traffic, as
chemical, pilots, connoisseurs in communication, accountants,
lawyers, securitys and professional assassins. In some countries
they even to pay good money addition to employees of the
high step of the government to guarantee the stability of
the business. In Colombia, for example, president Ernesto
Samper was accused in 1996 to have its electoral campaign
financed by the great cartels. In Mexico, the head of the
combat of the drugs in the country, general Jesus Gutiérrez
Rebollo, was imprisoned in February of 1997 for receiving
bribe from the dealers. Making use of true private armies
and modern weapons, the organizations of traffic are also
behind the increase of the violence in the countries where
they are more operating. In Peru and Bolivia, as well as
in Colombia, the traffic of drugs is present in the national
life and in such a way involves the institutions of the
State and the guerilla.
