COCAINE
|
 |
Cocaine is extracted from the coke leaf, the
plant named Erytoxylon coca. It acts on the
central nervous system, accelerating mental
activity and producing states of excitement,
modifying movement, hearing and sensibility
reactions, among others. When inhaled or injected,
causes euphoria, liberating cerebral neurotransmitters
that are substances responsible for the “communication”
between the neurons. Normally, the hormone
released by a neuron takes the message to
the next cell and then returns to the cell

where it came from, but with cocaine acting
exactly at that point, it blocks that reabsortion
causing the states of excitement, euphoria,
etc. A big problem is that because of this
there is an excessive exhaustion of the load
of neurotransmitters that at the end of the
effect, the individual goes through a heavy
depression, making the person return to use
the drug.Cocaine is responsible for our instability
stimulating our pleasure are. Thus, the euphoria
resulted of its use, disappears after approximately
30 minutes (depending on the addict) causing
a depression so deep that it can even last
months depending on the amount consumed and
the quantity of neurotransmitters we waste.
The stimulating effect of this drug can be
so intense for an individual that the person
can even die from attacks, hypertension or
heart attack or even yet, by extreme respiratory
depression and coma. The people that sell
the drug to be consumed, end up adding other
materials (white powders) to increase the
weight. Lots of times, the products added
may contain microorganisms also harmful to
the organism, causing a blood or pulmonary
infection, for example. |
