At first you are standing in the plane waiting for the necessary
altitude to be reached. Then comes the moment for the jump. You are
standing at the end of the and just a small step and you are already
flying!
You feel like swimming but in the air, carried not by the waves but
by the wind. You count the meters you have passed until you reached
the altitude where you should pull you parachute. Then you fly with
the opened parachute until you reach the ground and you flight has
ended.
There are several ways to initiate the deployment. With ripcord -
a special cable that pulls a pin freeing a spring which opens the
container with the pilot chute which spreads due to the created upward
velocity. In a throw out system the jumper lets a handle releasing
the pilot chute and then he must throw it away. The pull out system
involves pulling out the pilot chute with a handle. After the pilot
chute is inflated in the air it pulls the main parachute from the
container which deploys and then your speed decrease suddenly indicating
that your parachute has opened. Then you only wait for reaching the
ground.
