Millionaire Chet Wilson was murdered and three suspects have been apprehended. Along with the body, blood from the murderer was also present. Scientists have purified the blood and extracted the DNA. You now have to sequence a small portion of the DNA, called a gene, and match it with the suspect's DNA on file. Match correctly, or otherwise the murderer will be set free. . .

You'd actually use a centrifuge, to mix the tubes contents up.
The tubes would have been put on ice, to keep DNA from breaking apart.
It would have taken at least 3 hours.
