Warm Up and Conditioning

Stretching

Before beginning any training program or volleyball game, you need to stretch your muscles. But it is important for the muscles to be warm before you begin stretching. Run a few laps around the gym and set a few balls against the gymnasium wall before stretching out. It is safer, and you will get more out of it.

Running

Once you are stretched, it is time for what is known as short burst training.

Jumping

A talented jumper can have a tremendous advantage in volleyball, yet many players neglect this aspect of their workout. Leg strength is crucial to a good jump, and there are a number of ways to increase it.

Weights

If you've had your growth spurt, then weight training can help you to become a more effective volleyball player.

Mental Training

Your mind's fitness also plays a large role in whether you body is ready to play volleyball or not.

Play Time

After all is said and done, the best way to get both your mind and body in shape is to play.
