Principle of Training

Maintenance

The maintenance principle refers to the rather obvious fact that once high physical fitness and performance levels are reached, it is far easier to maintain that level than it was to achieve  it. This principle has particular implications for the off-season. The player will quickly get out of shape if strenuous, regular activity is not kept up. While the activity may not be volleyball, it should be  either a sport or training program that will consistently challenge the player's physical fitness.
