From Whitsun to mid-September vast outdoor tournaments attract hundreds of teams. Camping in adjoining fields, enthusiasts can play from dawn to dusk. The largest European tournaments, such as St Anthonis in Holland,
attract the top clubs from East and West Europe as well as touring sides from other parts of the world. In Britain there are three major summer tournaments each with over two hundred teams taking part every year.
At these tournaments there are leagues for top teams, average club sides, novices, juniors and 'masters' in both sexes. Wind, rain or sunshine are no obstacle to play. There is a wonderful social atmosphere and
players from several clubs often combine just for a particular tournament.
