The End of Tang

During the wars lead by peasants at the end of the Tang Dynasty, though the mains leaders sacrificed themselves, the rebellion lasted for about ten years, swept through a dozen of provinces, more than one million soldiers were involved, it was for sure a great impact to the feudal dynasty. The Tang Dynasty was to extinguish. But Zhu Wen crowned himself, who played a leading role in the rebellious army but at length turned out to be a traitor.

Zhu Wen revolted in TongZhu, and sought shelter from the Tang Dynasty. Tang Xizong was very happy and gave him an honorable name 'QuanZhong'. After that Tang Xizong asked him to quell the rebellious army as soon as possible. Zhu Wen asked Li Keto to help him to suppress the HuangChao Rebellious Army. Once Li Ke behaved a very arrogant way after taking some wine and Zhu Wen wanted to do away with him. From then on, they nourished hatred towards each other. They frequently fought against each other on the matter of land, LiKe's army was not strong enough to fight against Zhu Wen's and could do nothing more than keep his own territory.

In the year 889, Zhu Wen took advantage of Tang Zhaozong's being grounded due to his wish of doing away with eunuchs and conspired with the Prime Minister CuiYin. Under Zhu Wen's support, CuiYin killed the leading eunuch LiJiShu and then recrowned Tang Zhaozong. Some other eunuchs found the situation not in their favor, so they kidnapped Tang Zhaozong and sought shelter from Li MaoZhen. Zhu Wen's army surrounded the city called FenXiao. There was no food in the city, and it was snowing very hard. A great number of soldiers and citizens died, Li MaoZhao had to surrender. In that way Zhu Wen had perfect control of Tang Zhaozong. He killed all the eunuchs and forced Tang Zhaozong to take officials in ChangAn with him together with the citizens and move to Luo Yang and to make it the capital. The masses, without exception of the old and the young dragged themselves to Luo Yang under the supervision of the soldiers. On the way, they cried a lot and at the same time commended Zhu Wen for his perfidy.

When they arrived in Luo Yang, Tang Zhaozong furtively communicated with PanZhens from all around and asked them to save him. But not until they came when he was assassinated by Zhu Wen. Zhu Wen cleared all the forces though to have been his obstacles in the court. In the year of 907, he cleared up TangAiZong and crowned himself, changed the dynasty to Liang and made himself Lian TaiZui.The Tang Dynasty thus extinguished after having been existing for about 300 years.
