The Treason at Chen Qiao
After the death of Zhou Shizong, his son succeded the throne when he was only 7 years old. His mother acted as regent. During this time, the kingdoms of Northern Han and Mai allied together to attack Later Zhou. The prime minister gave orders to Zhao Kuangyin to battle the enemy. Zhao Kuangyin went with two of his closest colleagues. That night, they camped at Chen Qiao. Some of the soldiers discussed making Zhao the emperor. Zhao agreed. The next day, Zhao wore the golden robe that only the emperor could wear and establshed the Song dynasty, later to be known as Northern Song.
