The First Petition to the Emperor Before a Military Expedition
This petition is written to Liu Bei's son, after Liu Bei's death. It is famous because it shows Zhuge's loyalty to the late emperor and his determination to realize the dreams of his master and he himself. Zhuge Liang writes this petition to ask the emperor for permission to start his northern expeditions.

This translation is the first petition only. There is also a second petition, equally famous.
