Stroke Order
A character may consist of one or more strokes. One may not write these in any order one wishes. There are 8 rules in Chinese writing and the following demonstrations will help you to learn them.

First Rule
  • Horizontal before vertical.
Second Rule
  • Horizontal before Left-Falling
Third Rule
  • Left-Falling before Right-Falling
Fourth Rule
  • From top to bottom
Fifth Rule
  • From left to right
Sixth Rule
  • The middle then the two sides
Seventh Rule
  • From outside to inside
Eighth Rule
  • Inside then the sealing (of the outside) strokes
