Science & Technology, Art & Culture
The Three Kingdoms, two Jin dynasties, and Northern and Southern Dynasties were important periods in the development of China's science and culture. Numerous representative figures emerged in the fields of mathematics, astronomy, agriculture, medicine, iron smelting and foundry, and machine building, and their achievements had a far-reaching influence on later generations. In literature, history and geography, many important works that retained the fine traditions of the Han Dynasty were published. In calligraphy, painting and sculpture, talented artists appeared on after another and created beautiful works of time-less value. The fusion of nationalities, spread of Buddhism, and assimilation of exotic cultures further enriched the
art and culture of this period, introducing new artistic styles of historic significance.
