The Revolt of the Yellow Turban

During the years of East Han, the annex of land between land was severe and the government became more corrupted by the day. People lived under terrible conditions. AD 184, Zhang Jiao used religion to unite several millions of people to revolt against the government. The rebels each wore a yellow turban on his head -- thus came the name -- The Yellow Turban Rebel Army. The main army was defeated within 9 months, but the remaining people fought for many years to come. The East Han empire now existed only in name.
