Aim of Site
|
Our Entry aims at providing an interactive and user-friendly environment for people around the world to dig into this enormous and yet wonderful topic of Chinese cuisine. After travelling through this edible journey, you'll not only get a clearer picture of Chinese culinary art, but also learn about the cultural uniqueness of the food in this highest populated country of the world.

In the first stop -- the History Museum, you'll find an illustrated timeline which displays the history development and old legends from 500,000 BC to 1368 AD!
Proceeding to the Cooking School, you'll be informed of the table traditions, utensils, different ways of cooking and preparing food as well as some special kinds of seasonings.
Next is Food Avenue, where you can find an assortment of snacks, desserts, etc., each with its own exceptionality.
Onto Beverage Central, we have prepared information on different perspectives such as history, types, medical properties, cultural influence and so on.
Cereal Corner focuses on rice, noodles and congee.
Regional Cuisine tells of the famous dishes of different parts of China.
You can also learn more about the festive foods by visiting Festival Square.
As for Health Center, various kinds of tonics are discussed.
Apart from English and Chinese, we have machine-translated our site into 6 other languages so that more people can read.
We have a list of related links in each section for further exploration.
For each subsection, you will be able to view/post comments about what you think about that particular topic.
The glossary acts as a vocabulary resource and you will also be able to hear the words in Cantonese and Mandarin! (Textbooks do not have this!)
Random quotes generated on each page are there to let you know more.
There are also random polls and printing/emailing-to-friends functions on each page.
The forum, links archive, and a section called "Paint your own food" also adds interactivity to the site.
You will truly enjoy your journey and find yourself gaining knowledge at the same time!
