Old & New Harbour

The Old Harbour was once the main landing for fishing boats, but today it is the site for playful whales. The Old Harbour Museum is opened to the public. One can learn about the history of fishing and whaling in the area. There are also tanks of different sea creatures, which are kept for study purposes. In the New Harbour, you can observe seals playing and you can also buy a variety of seafood.

 

Hemel-en-Aarde wine village:

Hemel-en-Aarde wine village has a large wine selection and is very popular with the tourists. It stocks some of the most popular South African wines.

 

Arts and Crafts:

Besides the Whale Festival craft market, there is also a continuous craft market that runs every Saturday and Sunday. Tourists enjoy browsing about at all the small stalls. They can also visit an art gallery and there is also a whaling house where people can go to read up on whales and buy merchandise.

Restaurants:

Hermanus have over 60 restaurants. They range from the very casual to the very elegant restaurants. There are very few pubs in Hermanus, but the few that are there, have all the major sports games available on television screens. Many of the locals like to get together for the game and support their favourite team together with a drink. During peak season, the restaurants are very popular and some people even have to book a table.
