A firefly is a special insect, because it can radiate cold light, a kind of fluorescence. We can find fireflies in the country, in the summer, where is clean water there and few people live. They are like little stars in the ground.

    In the past, the country in Taiwan has a lot of fireflies. So numerous as to cover the mountains and the plains. But, as the population grows, there are more and more factories and houses in the country. The fireflies have no room to live, to reproduce. So, I seldom see one in my childhood.
I wish someday I'll see the fireflies with my own eyes, not just in books and TV programs.

    The stars in the evening are splendid. In the past, people named the stars, arranged them in constellations, and made up many stories about them. Actually, the stars are not small at all. Most of them are too far away, so they appear small.

    One story is about The Chinese Valentine's Day. It's on 7/7 -- lunar calendar -- every year. In brief, it is said that originally the Altair and Vega are lovers, but their affection violated some rules of heaven. So, they are punished to be separated by the Milky Way, and this couple only can meet each other in 7/7 every year, by means of the bridge built by magpies. Now, Feb. 14 included, the Chinese people have two Valentine's Day.
