South African Literature

                                     What is literature?

Literature is that body of work in which man's written record of his own experience is given

in artistic form. It  gives order to human experience, explores cultural values and  demands a

number of emotional responses from the reader.

Novelists                            Literature is like a great journey, showing you things you have never seen before and will

                                          Literature in South Africa

Most literature is a grueling account of the lives of black South Africans under a white regime.

Trauma was the major spur to writing from South Africa, and writers use their writing as a

                                     political weapon.

Writers aspire cultural ideas, and there is continuous focus on political questions, alienation,

social humiliation in apartheid, loss, violence, and exile.
