Among the various forms of dancing were these related to an acrobatic character. A dance which was practiced in the Old Kingdom fitted this description. An example of an acrobatic dance the detailed representation in the tomb of Anchmahor (VIth dynasty) where we saw five girls, who were holding their left legs in the air, and were leaning back in a horizontal position, and their arms were swung forward in order to keep their balance. They were clapped (dressed) in short skirts, putting their hair braids within little balls and this was used as an insignia to detect the female acrobatic dancers. An unusual dance related to this epoch which could be performed as a part of the funeral procession has a similar form.
