| Q1) What is the use of the consumer unit (CU) ?
Ans. If there is a short-circuit , overload or earth fault , the
consumer unit will isolate the
main supply so that the
equipment it is supposed to
protect, will not become
live and endanger the consumer .

yellow straps stands for ?
Ans. In most Asian countries which follow the
British
standard , red cable is used for live , the black cable
is
used for neutral and the green with yellow straps is used
for earth .

the load is live or neutral ?
Ans. Use a test-pen , it is able to detect whether the load
has any current .

What we advice is , buy a portable SSO or
a portable
cable reel because it is easier , simple and more
convenient then fixing a permanent SSO .
