Here are some South American mammals:-
| Bats ~ Are the only
mammal that can fly.
Prairie Dogs ~ Live in underground colonies called towns. Seals ~ Have ears, but only Fur seals have ear flaps. Deer ~ Their antlers are made of bone not horn, and they drop off and grow back every year.
Rabbits ~ Their babies are born blind. Sloths ~ Sleep upside-down and are well known for their laziness. Shrews ~ Are a type of rodent and the Etrusean shrew is barely 3 cm long.

Monkeys ~ A
pair of howler monkeys can be heard 3 km away.
Foxes ~ Foxes are well know for their slyness and cunning. Tapirs ~ Are striped and spotted for camouflage. Rats ~ Their name comes from the German "ratz".
Mice ~ Are a type of rodent. Rhinoceroses ~ Are an endangered species because they were hunted and killed for their horns.
