Here are some Insects that live in North America:-
| Mosquito ~
Mosquitoes live in forests around humans. The females carry a disease
called Malaria.
Cockroaches ~ Cockroaches are amongst the most ancient of all insects (35,000,000 years ago). They came before the Dinosaurs. Grasshoppers ~ Every species of Grasshopper has a different song. Fleas ~ Fleas can jump over 200 times their body length. Beetles ~ There are more than 350,000 different species of beetle in the world. Mantids ~ These are the fiercest predators in the insect world. Lady Birds ~ Ladybirds hibernate during Winter.

Bees
~ There are 22,000 species of Bees in the world.
Ants ~ Ants live in very large colonies and the females can fly.
Flies ~ Flies can fly backwards and turn around in mid-air. Dragonflies ~ Dragonflies can grow from between 2 and 12.5 cm long. Moths ~ There are over 200,000 different types of moths from around the world. Termites ~ Termites can build nests up to 12m high. Lice ~ Live on mammals, except bats. |
