Europe is divided into two sections, the cool north and the warm south, by the great curve of mountain ranges that include the Pyrenees and the Alps. In the far north treelesss areas merge into thick cool coniferous forests. South of this is fertile land which holds most of the continents agriculture and mixed woodland. In contrast to this the medierranean area is hot and almost desert like in places. There are even some volcanoes on italy and iceland.
