Here are some birds found in Europe, they are all in the U.K :-
| Black/Red Throated Diver~
Dives
well for fish.
Fulmar ~ Similar to Seagulls but with a stiff-winged flight pattern. Heron ~ Occasionally stalks prey-amphibians and fish, especially eels. Swan ~ The Mute swan lives in Europe all year round but the Whooper and Berwick swans only visit during the winter. Mallard ~ This is a very familiar duck. The males are very colourful, while the females area molted brown.
Scoter ~ These are scarce breeding winter visitors. Osprey ~ A fish-eating raptor which is formerly extinct in Scottish Highlands. Buzzard ~ Broad rounded wings held in 'v' shape while soaring. Gulls ~ Latin name = Larus mainly seen around coasts but d o stray inland. Puffin ~ multicoloured beak makes in very reconisable. Doves ~ Often seen as a sign of peace, it is commenly unknown that the commen feral pidgeon is actually a rock dove.
Kingfisher ~ Orange and blue colourings with a long flat beak. Martins ~ Often feed around lakes. Catch insects at low level flight. Larks ~ Beautiful songs and calls. Robins ~ Highly terratorial. Famous for it's red beak.

Grebes ~ Many different types with little or no similarities to each other. Gannet ~ Largest British sea bird. Little Egret ~ Classed as a rarity in Britain although they are now common to some South English coastal waterways. Goose ~ There are 7 varieties- Brent, Barnacle, Canada, Graylag, Pink footed, Bean and White Fronted living in Europe.
Mandarin Duck ~ These ducks were introduced to Europe from native East Asia. Golden eye ~ Are a distinctive diving duck with rounded green glossed head and white wings. Sparrowhawk ~ short rounded wings long barred tail. Golden Eagle ~ Golden yellow mane only seen at close range. Terns ~ distinctive black top head, all but the little tern have a long pointed tail split in 2. Cuckoo ~ Heard more than actually seen its load call gives it it's name. Owls ~ Unmistakably different to other birds and famous for their night vision.
Woodpecker ~ Black and white coloured with a hint of red. Often found excavating holes in trees. Swallow ~ Nests under eaves in barns and sheds. |
