The main types of mammals that can be found in the wild in Asia are:-
| Tigers
~ A tigers roar can be heard 4 or 5
miles away.
Monkeys ~ A pair of Howler Monkeys can be heard 3 km away. Bears ~ Are the only animals, along with humans, to walk on the soles of their feet. Camels ~ Can shut their nostrils to stop sand getting in. Pumas ~ Can jump well over 5 metres to a rock ledge. Mountain Goats ~ Have hollow soles which act as suction pads. Water Rats ~ Are very good swimmers. Freshwater Seals ~ Live in Lake Baikal in Siberia. Pandas ~ Are an endangered species who are only found in China.
Arctic Foxes ~ They hibernate during the cold winters and have a coat which will turn white in winter. Whales ~ The Blue Whale can grow to 30 metres and weigh more than 150 tonnes.

Bats ~
Are the only mammal that can fly.
Beavers ~ Live in homes called Beaver Lodges. Elephants ~ Use their trunks as snorkels when they cross a deep river.
Yaks ~ Live in the cold Himalayan mountains and can survive more than 6000 metres up. Snow Leopards ~ Are the rarest of the big cats. Voles ~ Are rodents which are often called Water Rats. Wild Horses ~ Asia is the only place where true Wild Horses can be found. Caribou ~ Are a type of deer. Wolves ~ Are the largest of the wild dogs. Hares ~ Live in homes above ground, not below.
