Your personal particulars will be recorded and you will be given a health assessment questionnaire to answer. Please remember to bring along your identification card, passport or donation card.
A doctor or nurse will ask you some questions about your
medical history to confirm that you are fit to donate blood. Then your weight,
blood pressure and pulse will be checked.
Your blood haemoglobin level is checked to ensure that you can give blood.
After cleaning your arm, a localized painkiller will be applied to your arm to ensure that you will feel no pain during the donation. The equipment is sterile and disposable and it is impossible to catch any disease by giving blood
After blood donation, you will be required to rest briefly and take some light refreshments before resuming your normal activities.
Whole process takes bout 45 minutes but during this 45 minutes when you are giving blood, you might be saving someone’s life so go ahead be a blood donor.
Who cannot donate
People who have diseases i.e. AIDS, leukemia, high blood pressure, hepatitis and etc. For more information, please consult your family doctor or go for blood screening.
