Home > Louis' execution

King Louis' last drive through the streetsof Paris was slowly and quietly. He drove in his carriage, from the prison and began the 2 hour long trip. The streets were overcrowded. Some of the people were in a state of chock over the king's forthcoming death. The king was tied to a piece of wood with his face down. Sanson pulled a rope and then Louis was dead. One of his assistents took the kings head and showed it to the people. They ran to the guillotine and dipped their clothes in the blod, as a remembrance of this day. By killing the king the French people were free. They should no longer be afraid to walk out of their door. Instead France started a democracy.
