How are blizzards classified?

Blizzards are not really classified into groups like tornadoes and earthquakes are, however, the winds are called different things depending on their speeds.

Moderate Gales - Winds of 32-38 mph

Fresh Gales - Winds of 39-47 mph

Strong Gales - Winds of 48-54 mph

Whole Gales - Winds of 55-63 mph

Storm - Winds of 64-72 mph

Hurricane - Winds of 75+ mph
