As you look at this website you may be wondering what Athlone has to do with the most famous ship in history. Well quite a lot actually.

Ten local people travelled on that ill-fated voyage....only 3 survived. Glimpses from their lives have been recorded in the films “A night to remember” and “Titanic”.....a man held back at gun point from a lifeboat.......a mother clutching her young family around her trying to calm them as the ship goes under.
