All Grade Levels:

Idea: Write a fictional story that has to do with wildfires, and post it on the "fictional stories" section of the Stories/Articles page.

Advanced Topics:

Idea 1: Write a persuasive essay about wildfires from the point of view of a) a person with their home in the path of a wildfire, b) an environmentalist, c) a logger or, d) a firefighter.

Idea 2: Write an article about recent wildfires in your area (research them, why they happened, etc), and write an article about anything of specific interest in the fire. If no wildfires occur, why aren't there any? (If you live in an urban area, research about the nearest rural area near you)

Idea 3: Interview an expert in the field (smokejumpers, forest service, any gov't person, firefighter) in your neighborhood (of course, get their permission). Prepare beforehand, researching their position, and ask them questions and record the answers somehow. Post the interviews to the message board.
