The Growing Wildland/Urban Interface:
It is interesting to note, that if you compare the three maps below, you'll notice that the population is increasing in most areas that are forested, and that the fires are occuring closer and closer to larger urban areas
(please note: the satellite map is only of Montana and Idaho, while the other two maps are of the whole western United States).
