Helicopters and slurry bombers are most often associated with wildfires. But other types of vehicles are also used in firefighting efforts.
 |
Bulldozers: Bulldozers are used by firefighters to cut fire lines, clear helicopter landing sites, remove obstacles from the paths of other vehicles, and ferry water to otherwise inaccessible (by ground vehicles) backcountry sites. Skidders and excavators are also similarly used.

Trucks: Two different kinds of trucks--water tenders and wildland fire vehicles--are used to carry water to fires. They have a 3,000 to 5,000 gallon and 200 to 1,000 gallon capacity respectively, and can both handle off road travel. Water tenders also carry crews into forests. Traditional fire trucks also are used to protect homes.
