INFORMATION
This is sport similar to kayaking except that it
is done in a larger boat with more people. Many people travel down rivers
and rapids propelling themselves by using paddles or oars. A training
coarse on rafting is required before one can go on a serious expedition.

FACTS
There are two basic kinds of whitewater rafts:
oar boats and paddle boats. In an oar boat, rafters ride in the boat while
the guide, sitting in the center of the boat and facing forward, maneuvers
the raft through the rapids with two long oars. No special skill or knowledge
is required of the passengers. In a paddle boat, passengers become participants.
Paddling as a team under the command of the guide, each person helps to
steer and move the boat.
