It may not be widely known, but research into cloning has been around for nearly six decades. The breakthrough came in end of 1996, where scientists from the Roslin Institute at UK and PPL Therapeutics cloned the sheep Dolly from an adult sheep's udder cell. Scientists kept the birth of Dolly a secret for six months before revealing it to the world in February 1997. Since then, the issue of animal cloning has held public attention.
