While making our predictions on cloning in the future, we decided to do a survey to find out what others thought about the issue. We did gather some interesting facts and here we have a summary of what we found out. |

First of all, let us take a look at the group of people we surveyed. In all, we surveyed a total of 56 people from different backgrounds. Although the survey was given to people of various age groups, majority of them were in their late teens, with ages ranging from 16 to 18. It is important to note that these people would be the ones faced with the decision of whether or not to accept cloning, in the future when they are in their prime. The number of males and females was quite even, with 51.7% of them females and 48.3% males. We also had people from various ethnic groups, to name some, the Chinese, Indians, Malays and Eurasians. Most of them were somewhat familiar with the idea of cloning, and the great debate following it. |

We asked people whether they agreed with the statement on the left, Cloning is beneficial to humanity. And the results we received are summarised as shown in the piechart on the right. Most of them agreed, although nobody approved strongly. |

One of the other questions we asked was whether cloning aimed to play the role of God. We received a variety of answers, which are shown clearly in the piechart on the left. Some of the survey participants mentioned that creation was prerogative of God and him alone. Several went on to mention that God is always ahead of man, and it shouldn't be the reverse. One even pointed out that the very idea of God is uncertain. A follow up question was also done to find out whether people thought it to be acceptable when cloning plays a role in procreation. A vast majority said no. |

Next, we asked participants whether they would resort to cloning. Very few of them said yes, as compared to those who said no, and the rest who were undecided. Of those who said yes, they mentioned that they would do it only under life threatening situations where they required a cloned kidney or heart to survive. Whether or not people will resort to cloning to re-create human beings, we will only find out when the time comes. |

The final question : Should human cloning be allowed? This has been an ongoing debate in many countries, especially as of late, in the United States of America. We thought we'd ask people what they thought. As we expected, almost everyone disapproved of human cloning. Some, however, thought it could be done after complete research has been done and the safety of cloning of humans has been verified. They also mentioned that human cloning should definitely be kept under control with restrictions. |

The survey has given us some good insight on what others think about cloning, how it can benefit us, and whether it should be allowed on humans. On a final note, it is important to realise that cloning is indeed a giant leap in modern science, and it is inevitable that human cloning will be done sooner or later. |
