The Great Pyramid Mystery Besides these, there are many other mathematical correlations in the pyramid's construction. With new ones being proposed every day, there are far too many to list. What matters is that these excellent mathematical incorporations in the pyramids are truely astronishing and show a high level of technology, mathematical achievement and organizational skill. And this is where the dispute comes in. Were the Egyptians at that time really that advanced? The Great
Pyramid contained no mummified king's body, casting doubt on its function
as a tomb. Numerous alternative theories have been thrown up as to the
function of the pyramids. Well...There is sun, sand and sea. In the same way, you could say there is far-fetched, plausible and factual...hmm. There are many vents and shafts within the Great Pyramid, and there are equally as many suggested alignments for them.
Dr. Virginia Trimble, an astronomer, and Egyptologist Professor Alexander Badawy noticed that two narrow shafts emanating from inside the Great Pyramid were aligned to two specific stars: Zeta Orionis, one of the three stars in Orion's belt, and the uppermost transit of Thuban, one of the Egyptians' "imperishable" circumpolar stars. Mark Lehner found that the northernmost sunset each year is between the Great Pyramid and that of Khafre and suggested this forms the Egyptian akhet symbol, a solar disk framed within a pair of stylised mountains (Krupp, 1996). View of the Sky looking North-East from Egypt (present day COELI Stella 2000 output). Robert Bauval put forward the theory that the alignments of the 3 pyramids on the Giza plain are a precise mirror reflection of the stars of Orion in his book "The Orion Mystery: Unlocking the Secrets of the Pyramids". He, and other alternative history writers, have argues that the dating of the pyramids to the reign of Khufu is wrong as the Orion stars would have coincided exactly with the pyramids' positions in approximately 10,400 BC, and that during that First Time a greatly advanced civilisation flourished with the knowledge incorporated into the pyramids.
