Archaeoastronomy in Europe
Europe is commonly thought of as the birthplace of the dominant Western civilisation present in today's world. Indeed, their roots go very deep and are shrouded in mystery. The Celts and the other ancients are an inspiring lot. Their archaeoastronomy, however, is so broad it is beyond the scope of this introductory site - there are over 1000 stone circles alone in Europe. We therefore shall be focusing on some prominent sites, the most famous one being Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain, northwestern England. |
