About our skull -
It can also be called the cranium. It mainly consists of the skeleton of the head, face and mandible. Some are parts that are related to the Central Nervous System are called the axial skeleton, which consists of al the osseous elements of the vertebral column, ribs and sternum. Some which are not are pertaining tot he appendicular skeleton or the extremities (eg. limps)
For the structure of an adult's, many cranium bones are paired (a left and a right), others cross the mid-sagittal plane and are not paired. There are mainly 2 kinds of skull bones - Cranial bones - those that are related tot he part that surround the brain and facial bones - those that do not assist in shaping the braincase. Other include the nasal bone, spheniod bone, frontal bone, parietal bone, temporal bone and occiptal bone.
