Background:
Rococo was a style that grew out of the richness of Louis XIV, the sun king, and flourished during the time of Louis XV before disappearing during the French Revolution.

Effect on Faces and Figures:
The overall style was very light-hearted and happy. Figures were highly decorated and contain a sort of ethereal sense to it. The unifying characteristic of Rococo paintings is the sense of "happiness" it possesses. The colors used had a rich pastel-like appearance.
