German
Adjective Endings
Welcome to our site!!!!
Our goal is to
help students with one small portion of German grammar. Although this is a tiny
part of the German language, it is essential to the mastery of the language. To
master adjective endings, you must already know how to identify nominative,
accusative, and dative case. If you have not already done so, here are a couple
web sites that may offer you some help.

Names
of cities used as adjectives always have the ending –er
For
example:
Der
Frankfurter Zoo, das Muenchner Oktoberfest
You also have to add an
adjective ending when using the comparative form of an adjective. Use the
endings you would normally use, just put them after the –er in the comparative
forms.
Wir
haben einen alten Wagen. è Wir haben einen aelteren Wagen.
Das
ist ein neues Modell. è Das ist ein neueres Modell.
Das
ist eine teure Marke. è Das ist eine teurere Marke.
There’s really nothing you can
understand or not understand about adjective endings in German. It’s basically
just a matter of memorization and practice. J
