From Camera to Paper: The Complete Photographic Process

Developing the Print

Now that you have exposed your paper with light in the enlarger, you need to develop the print. You will need to place the paper in the following trays of chemicals to process the print:

Trays Time Agitation Process
Developer 90 Seconds Constant Agitation
Water Rinse Just a few seconds Rinse
Stop Bath 30 Seconds Constant Agitation
Fixer 7 min or more Agitate once every few minutes
Running Water 10 min or more Constant Agitation

When developing test strips, place the strip in the developer tray for 90 seconds and quickly rinse it through the proceeding chemicals. Test strips are not as important as the actual print, so it is okay if you do not place them in chemicals for full time.

Tips:

See negatives being developed! We have rare footage of the developing process, invisible to the eye because it must occur in complete darkness. The camera used for this had a super night shot. 1.5mg download. Click here.
