About the Site

This site was created for the ThinkQuest 2000 Internet Challenge (http://www.thinkquest.org) by high school students Chris, Jonathan and Ross. We all attend different schools and live in different townships. The site was built collaboratively over the Internet.

SpaceCAD is designed as a complete beginning course in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design for high school students or adults. Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) is an important tool in every engineering and design discipline. After completing the lessons, students will be able to create two-dimensional drawings, orthographic projections of three-dimensional objects, sectional views, and isometric drawings. The students will also learn how to dimension drawings.

In addition, by completing the lessons and the design challenges, students will learn about the exciting history of the NASA space program. They will appreciate the role of technology and design in that program. They will also learn the steps that engineers use in the design process. These steps will then be applied to creatively solving the SpaceCAD design challenges.
