Name Description
DDR (Double Data Rate) A very fast type of RAM for a PC, mostly used on some high performance graphics cards.
DIMM (Dual In-line Memory Module; pr. "dim") A module of RAM for a PC, replacing the older SIMM specification on new computers.
Diskette drive A magnetic form of storage which can store about 1.4 MB of data. Superdisks can store up to 120 MB of data.

Download This refers to the action of transferring data from a remote computer to your local machine.
dpi (Dots Per Inch) A measure of picture quality, mostly used to measure printer capabilities. The higher the number, the better the quality.
Drivers Tells the computer how each hardware works.
DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) A method for moving data over regular phone lines. A DSL circuit is much faster than a regular phone connection. The wires coming into the user’s computer are the same wires used for regular phone service.
Duron A PC processor - AMD's budget chip, cheaper than the Athlon but also less powerful.
Duron Processor An AMD processor for the value market. Its aim is to compete against the Celeron processor in the value market.
