People who take part in a campaign against drugs or are willing to do it, should remember that: - Prevention, as a whole, takes a lot of time until it can reach its goal. - Prevention is a way of thinking. It is a sign of a well-developed society. - The benefits of prevention can't be easily proven and the one, who takes part in such a project, should be able to stand up to the pressure to show the benefits of his everyday work. After all, it is worth the efforts, because we are doing it for our children, too. These are the main principles of prevention for municipalities, schools and family campaigns. PRINCIPLES OF PREVENTION FOR CAMPAIGNS IN MUNICIPALITIES1. In order a good efficiency to be achieved, the campaign should include many components, related to every person, the family, the school, the media, other organizations and physicians. The units must be well integrated in the goals and content to be able to help each other. 2. In the campaigns media and education must be used, in order the awareness of the population to be increased, the support of the municipality to be provoked and to inform the population about the campaign's achievements. 3. Coordination with the other institutions of the municipality is very important. 4. The activities should be executed in such a way that different types of population are reached (age, sex, etc.). 5. Organizing the campaign should include evaluation of the necessities, projecting it, and its improvement at the time of execution of the campaign itself. 6. The goal and activities of the campaign must be concrete, possible to achieve with the resources on hand and well related to all the components. PRINCIPLES OF PREVENTION FOR CAMPAIGNS IN SCHOOLSThese campaign should 1. reach all the children from nursery schools to graduation. If this is impossible, they must at least reach them in the most critical age. 2. aim to teach how to withstand pressure for using drugs with interactive methods (role playing games, discussions, groups, etc.). 3. teach how to help ypur friend stop using drugs. 4. create positive influence by people of the same age. 5. be executed at proper periods of time. 6. be regularly evaluated PRINCIPLES OF PREVENTION OF CAMPAIGNS FOR FAMILIES1. Families of children of all ages should be reached. 2. The campaign must help the parents in their teaching how to communicate better, show their support, solve problems and bring up their children. 3. Parents must be as well informed about drugs as their children are. |
