MUNICIPAL METHODS FOR PREVENTION

Programs for prevention are realized in municipalities. There are three basic reasons for this. First, the municipal is the most affected by drug usage. Second, the strategies for prevention must reach people's everyday life in municipalities. And third, the programs and actions for prevention can be easily integrated in the institutions of the municipality.

There are many institutions represented in a municipality (state officials, municipal, companies, etc.), which should work or would like to work for prevention. Creation of good relations between them for exchange of information and coordination of actions is the best method of prevention in municipalities.

An important goal is to change the environment in the municipality (concerning use and attitude to different types of drugs), to create drug free alternative ways for entertainment, good control over use of drugs and adequate manipulation of the public opinion about narcotic use and taking part in prevention.
