STRATEGIES FOR PREVENTIONS

There are many articles in literature about the effect of many strategies for prevention. They show us which strategies in what conditions can work well and which not. But they have also two very important disadvantages. First, they are based on the experience of only few well-developed countries and can't be applied in other societies. Second, the short-term effects of the strategies described are well evaluated, but the long-term ones aren't. But, after all the short-term effects are very important for evaluation of the strategy by the society.

A good strategy for prevention includes many others and their good effects can be achieved only if they are well combined. Here is the way they are evaluated.

  1. Regulation of the manufacture and the market

  2. Regulation and rational use of drugs

  3. Educational methods for prevention

  4. Municipal methods for prevention

  5. Methods for restriction

  6. Legalization of illegal drugs

  7. Public opinion

  8. Media and prevention

  9. Relation between prevention and treatment
