Effects

Ecstasy simultaneously stimulates and relaxes. It lowers the muscle tension. “It makes you feel as we all ever wanted to be – calm and open, but not sentimental or stupid” – said a psychotherapist, who wanted to keep his anonymity. Some say that the only thing that can compare to the state derived from Ecstasy is the feeling of being in love with someone. But higher doses lead to arduous anxiety and euphoria, which is very similar to the effect of amphetamines.

Almost every time when Ecstasy is taken in, it suppresses the feeling of fear and painful memories, which the user has tried to forget before. Under the influence of Ecstasy those memories can now be discussed with the person himself without any fear that they may cause any damage. Another effect is the increased sense for sounds and especially for touch. Many people – from those who practice yoga to the Catholic monks – have concluded that Ecstasy can help a lot when trying to meditate.

Ecstasy also makes people think of the small things as if they are full of meaning; this is true when the users talk about art as well as nature in all of its varieties.

Ecstasy is also connected with the appearance of a new type of music called “rave”. The music written in the 60’s under the influence the effect was very popular. But the “rave” music has the opposite connection – it is listened and danced under the influence of Ecstasy. The critics of such music think that only Ecstasy can make people really appreciate it. By the way this is dance music; it is no coincidence that Ecstasy is reckoned only as a “dance drug”. The slight relaxation of the muscles, together with the increased sensitivity towards music and merging with the crowd leads to a state similar to trance.

Ecstasy is also known as “the pill of love”, although everyone who has used it, agrees that it stimulates sensuality but not sexuality. One female researcher said that the sex is not one of the main “pleasures” of Ecstasy. According to her, for the men who used it, it had even the opposite effect of erection. In the rave clubs there is no violence caused by men and the young ladies feel safe there, even if they don’t have anyone to accompany them. Despite this fact there are rumors that the parties where Ecstasy was used end up with wild orgies.

Ecstasy helps people overcome inhibitions, a state in which there can be no aggressiveness, but it may make people do things, which they will regret all their lives. In most cases the user says what ever is on his mind. This leads almost every time to the break-up of relationship with a close friend, although everything that was said during the effect came from the heart.
