A1though the biological purpose of
dreaming may someday be discovered, it is unlikely
that scientists will ever devise a definitive model
of dream interpretation. Of course, no discussion
of dreaming would be complete without mentioning daydreaming-a
state of consciousness somewhere between waking and
sleeping. Although daydreaming can be disruptive-as
anyone who has ever been caught daydreaming in class
would attest to-it can also be helpful in setting
and reaching goals because it generates thoughts that
are more creative and less restrained than that of
a completely alert waking state. Albert Einstein's
theory of relativity for example was conceived when
he was daydreaming on a hillside.
