Aromatherapy is a treatment that uses
blends of essential oils to produce curative effects.
Essential oils are oils extracted from plants. These
oils can be used in the following way - Firstly, through
the form of breathing in the aroma. When a person
breathes in this aroma, the olfactory cord of the
human body interprets the scent and sends it to the
brain, thus influencing the hormonal and emotional
reaction. Another method of treatment is by letting
the body come into contact with these oils in small
quantity, for example through massaging or bathing.
By rubbing essential oils on the body, the human skin
can absorb these oils and then transport them together
with the body fluids throughout the whole body. In
the process, the oils pass through the nervous and
muscular system to either sooth the body or calm oneself
down.
